**What You Will Do** **Research Assistant - Parallelization of LBM-DEM for Particle-Laden Flows** The T-3: Fluid Dynamics and Solid Mechanics Group in Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a motivated Post-Bachelor/Master Research Assistant to join our research on high-performance computing for particle-laden flows. The successful candidate will work on developing parallelized Lattice Boltzmann Method-Discrete Element Method (LBM-DEM) and advanced coupling models for particle-fluid interactions in complex flow environments. Responsibilities: + Contribute to the parallelization and optimization of existing LBM-DEM codes for large-scale simulations on modern HPC architectures (CPU and GPU). + Conduct performance benchmarking, profiling, and code scaling analysis. + Collaborate with team members to integrate new physical models and numerical algorithms. + Document code development and prepare technical reports or publications. **What You Need** **Minimum Job Requirements:** + **Bachelor's or Master's degree in Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field completed within the past three years (or soon to be completed).** + **Experience with C/C++ or Fortran programming.** + **Familiarity with parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA or OpenACC).** + **Basic understanding of computational methods (e.g., CFD, LBM, DEM).** + **Must have earned an Associate's or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last 3 years in an appropriate field** + **Must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).** **Desired Qualifications:** + Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments or large-scale simulations. + Knowledge of LBM and DEM. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
